Back to my roots

•••••••••••••• I am going on vacation, yet again. ••••••••••••••

I guess I can't complain about this Summer.
First I went to Colombia and spent quality time with my mother-in-law.
Now, my husband and I are going to Spain.

We've been planning this trip for so many years, that I can't believe it is actually coming true. You see, he hasn't been there yet, and it is time for him to meet the rest of the family.

My parents don't live there anymore, but we still have a house in the country side where my dad was born. So we are going to get together there, for a few weeks.

I am sure my husband will enjoy this very much. I can see it. The food, the landscape, the different accent, I mean there is no waste.

We are going to Asturias, a province on the North coast by the Cantabric sea. It's been about 10 that I don't go.

So, hopefully, this is going to be great for both of us.

Ok, I need to start packing up.

Ciao!

Forever Young

My husband and I went to Rod Stewart's concert last Tuesday, and it was great. He is more charismatic, flirty, and good performer than I imagined him to be.

So, I think the name of his song suits him perfectly: "Forever Young".

I titled this treasury list in his honor.

Check out all the great artisans/artists in it. I'm sure you'll find something you want.

Enjoy!

Quotes and wisdom

I've always loved old sayings, or "refranes".

They have such a witty understanding of life.

And I also like quotes. Those that make me think. Those that make me question, well, life.

Today I thought I'll share one with you.

"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect.
It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections."
          (Unknown.)

...I'm working on it...

Do you have one that you like?

Lights on!

I've been looking at lamps the last couple of days.

See, my sister needs to buy one for her living room ceiling, so she's been asking for my opinion. We live far away from each other, in different states to be more precise.
How do we do it?
We go "screen-shopping" together.
We visit the same websites, compare products, prices, designs... Until she finds the right one.

It takes quite a few emails back and forth:
"How about this one?"
"I like this lamp, but I think it's too big for your space."
"This costs more than what I wanted to spend."
"It doesn't go with your room."
"OK, I think this is it. Tell me if you agree so that I order it right away."

So she finally decided on one, but I keep looking for more. And I tend to love the ones that I can't either afford or have the room for it. (Well, I don't need any lamp right now, either.)

I want to share these nicely designed few with you. It makes me happy to see how clever some designers are.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think. Maybe we can "screen-shop" together :)

Pandora

I fell in love
with this painting
Last 4th of July
Metropolitan Museum of Art
New York City.

I don't think this picture gives it justice.

Surely you've heard of that before. But I really mean it.

I stopped at it. Stared at it for a while. Took a picture, in hopes that I could take the "masterpiece" home with me. Took another picture of the credits next to it. --I must remember the painter, I must remember the painting's title.--

Those colors! The atmosphere! It is beautiful (in my humble opinion, of course.)

Oh, the artist you ask? Odilon Redon.
                           French.

If you want to learn more about him, here is a wikipedia link.

Knot me down

Since I started making jewelry, the finishing knots for a piece have driven me -well- nuts.

The way they look, whether they'll hold up the weight of my work, or would they just untie themselves...

Let's just say it makes me nervous.

I don't know if other jewelry makers have the same problem.

I bet I am not alone

So, if you want to share your problem-solving solutions, please do so here.

In the meantime, I leave you with this link to How-to-make-jewelry website with quick tips on how to make different types of knots.

I'll be trying some of them myself.

Very, very special...

Indeed!

This list, put together by Pizpireta, made it to Etsy's famous front page.

It was a week ago, but it's still worth to take a look at the wonderful products.

Oh, and... (cough, cough)... my Fuchsia Blue Flower ring is there, too. :)

Hello, there!

So this is it.

I finally gave in.

I now have a blog.

This is how things started.
First, Facebook, then Etsy, Flickr, later Twitter, and finally the blogosphere.

I was very hesitant to start this. I mean, what can I possibly talk about? Why would people be even interested in what I have to say?

Well, probably not.

But here I am.

I'll be showing things I find around. Interesting things -- at least that's what I think -- and maybe you find something you like, too.

Yoohoo!!

Here I come!

Have a great day :D
